What are the card design specifications for handwritten letters?
Every letter includes a printed folded card. You can use one of our pre-built templates, design your own in Canva, or upload a custom file. Here's what you need to know.
The easiest option: use our templates
Our pre-built card templates are already sized, formatted, and ready to go. Just select one from the template library inside the letter flow, customize it in Canva if you'd like, and you're done. No need to worry about specs at all.
Designing your own card
Your design is made up of two files — an outside (front and back of the card) and an inside (where the handwritten message appears). Both use the same canvas size.
File requirements:
- Canvas size: 1375 × 2000 pixels
- File format: PNG, PDF, or JPG
- Max file size: 25 MB
The most important rule for the inside file: leave the handwriting zones completely blank. Do not add any text or design elements there — that's where the robot arm writes your message.
Using Canva
When you click Create in Canva from within the letter flow, the canvas is already set to the correct size — you don't need to set up anything manually. When you're done, export as PDF Print (Share → Download → PDF Print) for the best quality.
Note: If you're using one of our pre-built templates, do not resize it before uploading.
